CONVENTION 2010 REPORT BACK
On Saturday 13 March Delegates and Observers from the Regions throughout South Africa gathered at the various Provincial venues for the 43rd Convention of the Caravan Club of Southern Africa. This was the 3rd successive Convention held at Provincial level and, as in the past, was another highly successful event. Delegates were far less reserved and were eager to participate in the familiar environment of their Provincial councils.
The Club's Strategic plan was tabled at this Convention and much discussion took place on the core subject of the plan - the retention and growth of membership. The encouragement of tours, both local and international was discussed and the Club will be promoting closer liaison with other organizations and federations with similar interests. Benefits for our members, both tangible and intangible are important and Regions have been requested to assist in any way possible to assist in this regard
Some of the important decisions taken at this Convention were:
The minimum number of EXCO meetings has been reduced from Two to One per year. In today's modern world of electronic communictations, it is just as easy to resolve matters without the need of expensive travel costs.
The Club's Constitution and "Green File" - now known as the Club Working Manual has been written into a more user-friendly format and has been accepted.
As with all things financial, the annual subscription rate has been increased by 7.7% from R195.00 to R210.00.
The display of modern looking "tear drop" type banners at Rallies has been accepted. This does not however replace the traditional Flags which will still be used at major events.
Our current President, Jan Heyneke, was re-elected unapposed. Russell Gibbens was re-elected as Vice-President.
Various awards were presented. There was a special presentation of the Eric Hoffmann award to Dan Lehmann at the Northern Regions' Convention for 50 years service on committee. This is a remarkable achievement that will be extremely difficult to surpass and we congratulate Dan on such a great milestone. We also thank him for the half Century of dedication and hard work he has put into the Club. Notably also was the presentation of the same award to both Jan Heyneke and Harry Bolton for 30 Years service on committee. Congratulations and thank you to these gentlemen for this achievement. For the record Dan Lehmann, Jan Heyneke and Harry Bolton have been the Club's management committe for 16 Years and it is thanks to them for turning the Club's finances around to the succes it is today. |
TYGERBERG LEDE BEHAAL BESONDERE MYLPAAL
(See English Translation after the Photo)

TYGERBERG MEMBERS ACHIEVE REMARKABLE MILESTONE
At the January 2010 National Rally held at Kuilsrivier Caravan Park, Hannes and Joan Mundey reached a remarkable milestone in their rallying career. They attended 100 Rallies in a row – not having missed a single rally since becoming Club Members! With this achievement they join Hardi and Roline Visser who reached 200 Rallies in a row in December 2008 at Mountain Breeze Caravan Park. Hannes and Joan rallied for seven and a half years without missing a single Rally and here follows a short summary of their rallying career. The Mundeys rallied in a tent as guests of Tygerberg Region as early as 2001. Due to the fact that at that time it was a condition of one’s membership of the CCSA to be the owner of a caravan and Hannes and Joan had already exceeded their “quota” of rallies as guests, they bought themselves a Caravette 4 in 2002 and attended their first Rally as full members at Ou Skip Caravan Park in June 2002. Hannes and Joan have achieved several milestones in their time with Tygerberg Region. At Regional level they have reached; 5 in a row, 10th 20th, 40th and 50th Regional Awards. At National level they have reached their 10th and 25th National Rally Award. They have achieved 7 Full House awards and have attended 4 Snoektown Rallies as well as been on 2 Tours. In 2009 they were presented with the President’s Award for signing on 5 new members for Tygerberg Region. Hannes and Joan both serve on the Tygerberg Committee – Hannes since 2005, currently as Vice-Chairman and Joan since 2007, currently holding the Social portfolio. We congratulate them on this remarkable achievement and wish them well for the next 100!
